Flexible Packaging - Roll Stock
Engineered for sealing strength, barrier protection and print clarity, roll stock packaging can be customised to meet the requirements of various industries and product types. Whether you are packaging liquids, dry goods or frozen free flow products, roll stock is a reliable material which is fully recyclable through New Zealand's Soft Plastics Recycling Scheme.
The FSSC 22000 Advantage for Food Contact Packaging
Snell is pleased to be one of the first warehousing companies in New Zealand to hold FSSC 22000. As a stringent and internationally recognised food safety certification, it ensures the safety of food contact products, such as roll stock. At its inception, the standard now known as FSSC 22000 was based on key requirements for global food manufacturing giants, such as Coca-Cola, Nestle, Heinz and others. By ensuring their suppliers met a singlar standard, the organisations could have confidence in the quality of their products in market.
By holding FSSC 22000, our flexible packaging is protected by a strict food safety management system. This reduces the risk of contamination, product recalls and compliance issues which can impact your products and reputation in market. As a result, Snell customers can be assured that the best practices are implemented to keep their packaging safe.
At Snell, we mitigate risk for our customers by only partnering with top tier suppliers who are able to consistently meet both FSSC 22000-related standards and Snell's own expectations around Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).
As many of our customers' products are available on supermarket shelves, market access is determined by your level of both FSSC 22000 and ESG compliance. There is also a risk by association with businesses being judged by who they choose to partner with. As both businesses and end consumers become increasingly savvy as to the origins of both the product itself and the packaging it's contained within, risk mitigation and compliance is critical at every stage of the supply chain.
Roll Stock / Laminate
Roll stock, also known as laminate, is a low cost option for packaging liquids, dry goods and free flow freezer items. For products which have the most shelf appeal when displayed horizontally, roll stock is a great choice as your brand aesthetic can be achieved with either matte over gloss or a gloss finish.
Snell's flexible packaging experts partner with you to identify the most suitable barrier options to maintain optimal product freshness and extend shelf life. There are also various resealable options available to prolonge product freshness post-purchase.
Roll Stock in Action
Roll stock is designed to be fed into a Form-Fill-Seal (FFS) machine which can be vertical or horizontal to minimise packaging waste. It provides a cost-effective alternative to pre-made pouches or bags as the FFS machine unwinds the roll stock and forms it to the desired shape. It is then filled with product and sealed.
Due to its cost-effective nature and the capability of FFS machines, roll stock is well-suited to high-volume production.
